Knocked Out

I watch boxing occasionally.  I am not a huge fan but sometimes a match will grab my attention.  I think it is the same instinct that makes people watch car racing.  You don't watch for the race, you watch for the crash.  Same thing with me and boxing.  I am not so much interested in the fight, I just want to see the knock-out.  Yes, I guess I am a Neanderthal  with a serious blood lust.  There have been worse things said about me I guess.

It is with great shock and awe that I watched the following video.  I have seen some amazing knock outs, but this is one of the best.

I have seen knockouts where the guy gets back up after a few seconds but that kid was out cold. I'd say he is probably looking at some brain damage but I don't thing protecting the brain is high on professional boxer's to-do list anyway.

So, when you think you have a tough job, just be glad you don't take fists to the face for a living.

UK defeats #1 LSU in Triple overtime!

Seriously folks, something is bad wrong in the universe and I am concerned. I have been a Kentucky fan since I was born in a little hospital in Winchester, KY and I can NEVER remember a time when I was excited about UK football. For me, football season was always the indication that basketball season was just around the corner. Even after moving to the backwards land of Alabama I never really picked up a desire to follow college football. It is too much like religion around here (just like basketball in the bluegrass state) and I don't go in for religion. However, seeing UK in the hunt for a national football title is exciting. I hope it keeps up!

What makes me happier?

I just don't know what makes me happier...The fact that the University of Kentucky's football team is ranked and beat Arkansas on Saturday or that Georgia put Alabama and the man-god Nick Saban in their place that same day. It's enough to make a man actually follow college football!

Kentucky is ranked 14 in the AP poll this morning and 15 in the USA Today poll. A "resurgent" Alabama has fallen to 22 and 24 respectively.
