2013 is right around the corner. I am actually looking forward to it for many reasons but what is important for this blog is that I really plan on getting back to writing. Over the years I have done things that I really enjoyed but could not seem to keep up with and I am going to make a stronger effort to get back to that next year. As I think through some of the things I want to work on here, a few things come to mind.
I tried to do a “What’s on Netflix” feature every week. I think I might morph that into something like “What I’m Watching”. The Netflix feature always got a lot of traffic (those posts still do actually) but I often felt locked in to just Netflix. I am thinking I will expand this feature to include movies that I see in the theater, TV shows, and anything else media related.
I also tried doing a weekly comic book column discussing random books from my collection. That was fun and I want to try it again. Accessing my collection is a bit of a problem these days as the boxes are not easy to get to so I have to figure that out but talking about old books really brought back why I enjoy comics so much. I am excited about starting that back up.
The “Picture of the Day” feature and other similar photo posts were also fun. I regret that I got out of taking pictures. I enjoy that hobby very much and regret that I have stopped learning and growing in the field. It is high time I get back to working on that.
Finally, I have a strong urge to restore a lot of what used to be on this site. I have almost ten years of posts, most of which are no longer published. I saved all of the posts from every version of the blog and I am at a point in my life where I don’t fear much of that being public again. Restoring the posts is a bit of a challenge as they have to be reformatted after the import but I have some ideas that might make that easier. I hope to process a lot of that this weekend so be on the look out for a lot of “favorites” coming back online.
I like blogging. I don’t really care if anyone reads it. It is more of an exercise for myself. It helps me get my thoughts out and allows me the opportunity to look at things from a different angle. Some of what I have written in the past doesn’t reflect who I am today while other posts represent parts of me I want to get back.
2013 will be a good year.
